Luxury Master Bathroom Remodel in Linwood, NJ

When the owners of this Linwood colonial reached out, they were specific about what they wanted: a master bathroom that felt like a high-end hotel. The existing space was functional but dated — a cramped stand-up shower with cracked tile, a single-sink vanity, builder-grade lighting, and a garden tub that had never once been used. They wanted the works: a large walk-in shower, a freestanding soaking tub, double sinks, and serious tile work.

We started with a full gut, taking the room down to the studs and subfloor. This gave us the opportunity to inspect the waterproofing behind the old shower — and we found what we almost always find in showers over 15 years old: moisture intrusion behind the tile at the curb and back wall. We addressed this properly before a single new tile went up, installing a Schluter KERDI waterproofing membrane over the entire shower enclosure, including the bench and niche.

The new shower is the centerpiece of the space: a 5x4-foot curbless design with a frameless glass enclosure, linear drain, and full-height large-format tile. The primary tile is a 24x48-inch Italian porcelain slab in a light warm gray with a subtle vein, installed floor-to-ceiling on all three walls. A built-in bench runs the length of the back wall, with a matching niche on the side wall for toiletries. The rainhead, handheld, and body sprays are all Kohler Composed brushed gold fixtures.

The freestanding soaking tub is positioned beneath the window on the opposite wall — a freestanding oval in matte white with a floor-mounted brushed gold faucet. Between the shower and tub, we installed heated floor tile in a 2x2-inch mosaic pattern that transitions seamlessly into the main floor tile.

The vanity wall received a custom 72-inch double vanity in warm white with a Carrera marble slab top and two undermount sinks. Frameless mirrors with integrated LED backlight flank a central decorative pendant. The hardware and fixtures throughout are all brushed gold, creating a cohesive and luxurious finish.
